The AL-KO/Hayes electric brake assembly is designed to fit axles with a load capacity ranging from 9,000 to 12,000 pounds. The left-hand (driver's side) brake assembly measures 12-1/4" x 3-1/2" and features a reverse self-adjusting shoe design. The complete brake assembly is ready to be bolted on and wired, with the necessary mounting bolts and nuts included.
Over the years, the brake design has undergone several improvements. In 1987, the 10,000-pound brake was redesigned to utilize a vented magnet. This was followed by a similar redesign for the 12,000-pound brake in 1989, and the 9,000-pound brake in 1995, all incorporating vented magnets.
